NREL – National Renewable Energy Laboratory

NREL – National Renewable Energy Laboratory

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the only U.S. national laboratory solely dedicated to advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies from concept to commercial application. For 35 years, NREL innovations, analysis, and expertise have enabled the emergence of a U.S. clean energy industry and led to numerous success stories from across the laboratory.
NREL’s 327-acre main campus in Golden, Colorado, is a living model of sustainable energy. The laboratory also operates the National Wind Technology Center on 305 acres located 13 miles north of its main campus.

TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research)

TNO (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research)

TNO is a knowledge organisation for companies, government bodies and public organisations. It was founded in 1932 develop applicable knowledge and create innovations that boost the competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society in a sustainable way. They further offer specialist consulting services and grant licences for patents and specialist software. With more than 2,600 employees, it is one of the largest research institutes in the Netherlands and has its headquarters in The Hague.

Indian Institute of Technology

Indian Institute of Technology

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is a premiere research institute in India. Several research publications, patents and break -through innovations have seen the sun from here. Apart from degree courses including under -graduate, post -graduate and PhD, almost every field has a research laboratory well equipped and with expert guidance from world -renowned professors. I have worked extensively on power quality improvement in standalone generating systems with simulation and real -time implementation in laboratory environment with successful validation of results. The institute ranks among the top universities in the world especially in Electrical Engineering.

R&D Nester

R&D Nester

R&D Nester (Centro de Investigação em Energia REN – State Grid, S.A.) is a research centre created through the partnership between REN (Redes EnergĂ©ticas Nacionais), the Portuguese TSO, and State Grid Corporation of China, the Chinese TSO and DSO. As an energy research centre, R&D Nester’s mission is to provide an international platform for knowledge, delivering innovative solutions to be applied into energy systems; providing new tools, strategies and processes, well-tuned to the new energy paradigm, serving as a driving force towards more efficient and sustainable energy systems. R&D Nester main areas of research and expertise include: renewable energy management; smart grid technologies; power systems and communication systems simulation; power networks planning; power systems operation; energy markets and economics.

Delft Institute of Technology

Delft Institute of Technology

The RTDS installation at TU Delft consists of 8 racks with 10 PB5 and 36 3PC cards, capable of simulating grids in 2 µs and 50 µs step size.Additionally the racks have analog/digital I/O, remote I/O, two GTNetx2, and one GTSync card. The RTDS Simulator allows to test protection and con-trols in real time, where an hour in the real world equals an hour in the simulator. Utilizing modular custom computing hardware and software, simulations performed encompass results from DC up to electromagnetic transients. Inherently, these results include information regarding the system load flow and transient stability, as well as that of harmonics and faster disturbances.

ORMAZABAL Corporate Technology A.I.E.

From the time Ormazabal was founded in 1967, we have been aware of the strategic importance of research applied to own technological development, and in this way offer quality products and services to the customers and consolidate the leading position in the world’s technology sector.
The Research and Technology Center, managed by Ormazabal Corporate Technology (OCT), represents an important leap in the company’s track record; a project that has long been desired and aspires to become a technical reference at an international level, in the field of electrical power distribution networks.
The Research and Technology Center becomes an essential element in R&D projects, with the purpose of acquiring and improving existing technologies and researching new ones.
OCT’s facilities offer their services to the technological scientific sector for performing research testing and for developing and type testing products the electrical sector.

OFFIS Division Energy

OFFIS Division Energy

A fast knowledge transfer from research into the economy is the crucial foundation for the economic, as well as the social well-being of a country. We have made this transfer our task: As an associated institute of the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, OFFIS has, since its formation in 1991, converted scientific know-how from computer science into prototypes which are then developed further into marketable products by commercial partners. Hereby, OFFIS provides research and prototype developments for companies and institutions – and this at the highest international level.
Energy, health, and transportation – these are the three application-oriented research and development divisions that are now the OFFIS structure. The divisions are pervaded by the knowledge gained from the different fields of technology. The result of this work takes effect on two levels: On the one hand, OFFIS has made nationally, as well as internationally, a name for itself as a Center of Excellence for chosen applied fields of computer science, and OFFIS developments are used by industries and institutions throughout the world. On the other hand, OFFIS considers itself a driving force for innovations, with concerns for regional politics through which knowledge remains in the region, and new sustainable jobs are established for northwestern Germany.

Research Centre for Sustainable Energy (FOSS)- University of Cyprus

Research Centre for Sustainable Energy (FOSS)- University of Cyprus

Within the University of Cyprus, FOSS is the center of excellence focusing on renewable energy sources (RES) and in particular solar energy, energy efficiency and smart electricity grid. The centre is currently equipped with a state-of-the-art facility for monitoring and evaluation of PV technologies and Advanced Metering Infrastructure and is currently progressing with further installations for completing a large microgrid covering the energy needs of the University. This will transform the University campus to one of the few green campuses in Europe.
