Description: TUBITAK is the major RTD agency of Turkey. Energy research is ongoing in TUBITAK Marmara. Research Center (MRC) Energy Institute. Research areas include: testing and modelling power plant control systems. evaluation of the user factor; measuring type of load. Evaluating the technical and economical feasibility of several distribution automation systems. analysing robustness of power systems; development of automation systems for production and distribution facilities; and determination of the criteria for the development of power systems.
Battery Technologies Laboratory
Description: It works with battery manufacturers and suppliers, providing support in the area of material development for primary and secondary battery systems in Turkey. The laboratory has the following equipments: Parstat Galvanostat / Potansiostat, Battery Testing System 300 V 300 A (8 channel - 6 is 3 A/5V and 2 is 3 A/20V), Digatron Battery Testing System (72V, 2000A), and Climate Chambers. New electrical, mechanical and electrochemical test systems as well as material, electrode and cell development equipment will established in 2010 and 2011.
Description: It has 100V, 200V, 300V, 400V, 1000V Test benches (up to 1.0 MVA), Isolation tests up to 5 kV-AC, 6 kV-DC, Current and Voltage Transformers, 3-phase, 10kVA Programmable Current and Voltage Source, Voltage and Current controlled 3-Phase Test Device for meter testing, and Analog and Digital Measurement Equipment (RLC Meter, Oscilloscopes, etc ...).
Description: It has 36kV, 15kV, and 10.5 kV Switchgear, 36 kV, 15 kV, and 10.5 kV test benches (load tests up to 1.6 MVA), Isolation tests up to 120 kV-AC, Current and Voltage Transformers, and a De-ionized Water Cooling System with capacity of 60 kW.
Power Electronics Laboratory
Description: Having equipment to produce prototype of up to 125kVA AC/DC rectifiers, DC/DC inverters, DC/AC converters, AC-DC solid state circuit breakers, Software including ORCAD, Power Factory, Keil-μVision2, TI Code Composer Studio V 2.1, and embedded systems like CEIBO FE51 and WEB76x Application Development Set, Cypress PsoC Application Development Set, Texas Instrument SPI515 JTAG Emulator.
Smart Grid Laboratory
Description: It has a 15 kVA Programmable AC Load, 1 5 kW Solar Array Simulator (Programmable DC source), Programmable controllers, RF communication modules, etc.
Vehicle Technologies Laboratory
Description: Laboratory test systems including Dynamometer set for electric motors, High power battery test system, equipment to produce prototype of electric motor drives up to 100kVA, Elit-1 Hybrid Electric Vehicle, Data acquisition and rapid prototyping tools like dSpace Autobox, NI PXI System, Software packages as MATLAB/Simulink, Simplorer, MAGNET, SPEED, TI - CCS V3.1, and embedded development sets for TI C2000 DSP family.
