Description: Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust of the University of Luxembourg targets research and PhD education. SnT fosters interaction and collaboration with industrial, international, and government partners. The Centre’s strategic research agenda is formed around interdisciplinary research platforms (IRP) that provide an interface to external partners and a forum to define and launch research projects. SnT\’s Netpower Lab provides infrastructure for the implementation of prototype nano or micro grids based on a number of freely programmable voltage source inverters in the range of 5-10kVA. Netpower Lab is designed to integrate different communication devices, particularly with realtime or industrial busses (SCADA systems) controlling the power units.

Research Domains:

  • Satellite Systems
  • Trust in Computer Security and Cyber Crime Prevention
  • Vehicular Networks
  • Sensor Fusion for Time of Flight 3D Cameras
  • Secure, Reliable and Trustworthy Voting Systems
  • Safer Internet
  • Green-IT
Facilities:

Net Power Lab
Description: SnT´s NetPower lab at the Interdisciplinary Center for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg offers a structure for hardware in the loop testing and real-time experiments. Up to Mhz scanrates are employed to engineer failproof signal processing and constructive solutions, e.g. in power electronics in their systems context. The NetPower lab equipment covers real-time software simulation, backed up by fast FPGA-signal processing hardware, extended to real-physics electrical power in the 100kVA range. The NetPower DemoLab of the University of Luxembourg carries out experimental verification of RTD works towards full-scale accommodation of solar derived power generation at all voltage levels of the grid for Luxembourg’s utility CREOS.
The NetPower DemoLab’s structure in the computer aided engineering process is combining real and virtual testbeds progressing from offline to online testing. For full-scale PV integration analysis, a virtual topology of modified CREOS network with meshing capabilities is implemented in the lab.
